(From my archives. It shouldn't be said that some of us did not raise our voices when it mattered. I was among the Africans who vociferated loudly when the West, under the leadership of "Brother" Obama used its Military wing, NATO, to destroy Africa's most prosperous nation (
"What does it feel like to belong in a society that has such scant regard for human lives"
When I was in college my parents decided to move west to Colorado & told me to take what I wanted to keep, they were getting rid of the rest. In sifting through my closet, I came across a diary written at age 5. Our kindergarten teacher, I guess for practice, had encouraged us to keep one. I kept it up for 3 weeks, then lost interest as I had nothing much to say.
Imagine, a 5 year old has just learned to write, & one of the first things she has to say is "I wish I hadn't been born."
Every other day or so, the same sentence. "I wish I hadn't been born."
That is how it feels. Of course, I'm a bit of an outlier. But precocious maybe.
How else can you feel, surrounded, & ruled, by genocidal, sadistic bullies?
Unfortunately, Frantz Fanon’s observation, made close to 60 years ago, remain very valid for Europe/the West:
“Yet it is very true that we need a model, and that we want blueprints and examples. For many among us the European model is the most inspiring. We have therefore seen in the preceding pages to what mortifying setbacks such an imitation has led us. European achievements, European techniques, and the European style ought no longer to tempt us and to throw us off our balance. When I search for the Man in the technique and the style of Europe, I see only a succession of negations of man, and the avalanche of murders.”
