[I once wrote an article with the same title. You can read it here: https://alaye.biz/in-search-of-enemies-2/]
This is one of the articles that I have put on the shelf while I tackle Pan-African stuff, but events of the last few days and the possibility that the USA and its attack dog in West Asia, Israel, will attack Iran made me reach for it and polish it up to bring it up to speed.
Note: Events move quicker than my pen, so to speak; Israel has attacked Iran. I have to put this out.]
“Enemies are necessary for the wheels of the U.S. military machine to turn.” - John Stockwell, former CIA officer, In Search of Enemies
The sun never set on the American Empire because the napalm-lit sky never stopped burning. From the rice paddies of Vietnam to the savannahs of Mali, from Baghdad to Belgrade, from Havana to Harare, the U.S. has never encountered a sovereign nation it didn’t want to destabilize — or a peaceful people it didn’t try to “liberate” into ruins.
Pax Americana is a grotesque theatre where bombs fall like blessings, and violent destruction is branded democracy. For the bloodthirsty warmongers in Washington DC, the planet is one bloody chessboard, and the self-anointed “Leader of the Free World” is always moving pawns — never caring how many pieces are broken in the process. The playbook is to kill innocent human beings on an industrial scale so that Wall Street financiers can smile to their banks. President Ike Eisenhower warned the world against the power of the Military Industrial Complex oligarchs in charge of the US.
In this infernal doctrine, America doesn’t just need enemies. America manufactures them. Like Ford rolling out cars. Like Coca-Cola bottling diabetes. Because, as John Stockwell said — and God bless that brave man’s soul — the war machine needs enemies the way a junkie needs a fix. It’s not about defense. It’s not about peace. It’s about profits, paranoia, domination, and hegemonic power.
Let us revisit the unholy scripture of American foreign policy, scribed not in ink but in the blood of Non-Europeans:
Angola, 1975: The CIA’s grotesque tango with Jonas Savimbi turned Angola into a charnel house. Why? Because the MPLA leaned Marxist. So what? So, they had domestic support. So they won the elections. America didn’t care. The result: 27 years of butchery. Millions dead. Angola lay in ruins. Here is a quotation from Time Magazine in 1987: The objective of the war is not to make UNITA win a war, but to devastate Angola and make the people lead wretched lives.” (TIME, August 10, 1987, p.33)
Zaire (DRC): Americans conspired with their European cousins to remove an elected progressive, Patrice Lumumba, and slapped a crown on the head of a thieving despot, Mobutu Sese Seko — a man so corrupt he looted his own country into collapse. But he was “our son of a bitch,” as they like to say in Washington.
Chile, 1973: Salvador Allende, democratically elected, was overthrown and murdered with CIA help. Pinochet, the butcher, took his place. Thousands tortured. But Wall Street clinked champagne glasses. “Democracy,” they called it.
Regime change has become the American rite of passage. They kill your leader, loot your treasury, wreck your nation, then hand you IMF loans and lecture you on governance. Of course, the fawning media, owned by the same financiers who own Wall Street, remain ardent cheerleaders. Western journalists never see a war they do not like. They will cheer any mayhem as long as it sells weapons to the same plutocrats who pay their salaries.
We had Iraq. Ghadaffi was gruesomely eliminated as soon as the old fox allowed himself to be persuaded to destroy his nuclear weapons programmes and was showered with fake wretched smiles of friendship.
And now, the sick circus has moved to Eastern Europe.
Ukraine is not a sovereign actor. Ukraine is a geopolitical landmine America planted at Russia’s doorstep. Like most of their playbooks, the West salivates over Russia’s vast mineral riches. To the logic of the infernal imperialists, Russia’s wealth is too immense to be left at the hands of the Russians. The agelong aim was always the same: provoke, weaken, bleed Moscow dry. And NATO — that aging imperial gang of looters with a flag — danced to the beat like obedient hyenas.
But now, the mask has fallen. Ukraine has officially crossed the Rubicon. No longer content with fighting on its soil, it has embraced terrorism — yes, terrorism — by launching drone attacks on Russian nuclear command and control infrastructure.
Let that sink in.
The most grating thing about the imperialists is the contempt they have for our intelligence. They hardly vary their script. Per them, we must believe Ukraine — with neither the intelligence apparatus nor the technological capability — managed to strike strategic Russian nuclear sites. Who are we kidding? Who gave them the coordinates? Who supplied the software? Who handled the logistics? The same way that Israel relies on the West for almost everything, especially the military gear it needs to fight its many battles.
And yet, President Trump — the bombastic maestro of the American stage — dares feign ignorance? He claimed in an interview that: “I didn’t know”?
Even a circus clown knows a puppet when he sees one. Ukraine cannot hit targets 800km deep into Russian territory without explicit NATO — read: American — support. This isn’t even a proxy war anymore. It’s kamikaze diplomacy.
We entered perilous territory when the elected president of the US was kept in the dark on an issue that posed the gravest threat to human existence - a nuclear battle between Russia and the US.
Let us be clear: Under Russia’s official nuclear doctrine, as enunciated as recently as last year by President Putin, any attack on Russia’s strategic deterrent infrastructure is considered existential. It gives Moscow the legal, military, and moral right to retaliate — with nuclear force.
Yet we see psychopathic media people and military analysts in the West giggle, tweet, and pretend this is all just theatre. To these mad sociopaths, attacking a part of the triad of a nuclear superpower is some Hollywood or Netflix production. What insanity would prompt the cretinous leaders of the Collective West to goad a nuclear-armed superpower like a cornered bear?
How does this end? What is the political objective here? What does NATO hope to achieve — apart from losing face, credibility, and possibly its hegemonic hold on the planet?
Let’s not forget that all this saber-rattling openly violates the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START). Under its now-defunct provisions, strategic bombers were to be parked in open spaces for transparency and verification. Otherwise, the Russians would have kept their planes in concrete bunkers. But the brainless morons at NATO have now blown that away—little wonder President Putin could hardly control his rage at the perfidy of the West.
Do these warmongers not read history? Does the ghost of Hiroshima no longer speak to them? Has the Cold War taught them nothing?
Or perhaps, for Washington, history is just another script to rewrite. The level of illiteracy and absence of culture in the West is truly staggering. Officials in high positions with powers to destroy life on Earth behave like kindergartens
What kind of “superpower” goes halfway across the world to pick fights with people it can’t even locate on a map? What kind of “democracy” sends drones and bombs rather than diplomats and engineers?
Let us not forget Iraq. Libya. Syria. Afghanistan. Yemen. Haiti. All in tatters.
Now add Ukraine to that list. Yes, it’s the newest carcass on Uncle Sam’s imperial altar. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have died, and the country’s Infrastructure has been reduced to ash because they foolishly allowed themselves to be goaded by the dreamers in the West who forever dream of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia. And yet, American politicians strut about in blue and yellow pins as if they’re attending a fashion gala, not cheering genocide.
The West no longer practices foreign policy. Its diplomats have become addicted to warmongering. The addiction has become a psychosis—a pathology.
Pax Americana has become a delusion — a madman’s fantasy of eternal empire.
And now, the empire has set its greedy eyes on Africa—again, particularly the Sahel.
In Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso — the winds of Pan-African sovereignty are rising. And that is unforgivable to the vampire elite in Washington and Paris.
Enter AFRICOM, with its smiling Black generals playing the same old colonial game.
General Langley and General Kip Ward — will go down in infamy. They lead a new class of Plantation Overseers: Black men tasked with putting African resistance back in chains. The Shameless Langley promoted Traoré in Burkina Faso to Enemy Number One simply for daring to say “Non” to neocolonialism.
But Africa is not asleep—not anymore. Langley was roundly condemned by continental and diasporan voices by conscious Africans who no longer wanted to continue as colonial subjects. The crescendo must have penetrated the walls of the White House and the Pentagon as he was shuffled aside a few days after he returned from a visit to Africa’s neo-colonial capital, Kenya.
To our so-called Presidents, like Ruto, who serve as local prefects of global imperialism:
How long will you betray your people?
You hand over resources to multinationals, welcome foreign troops to occupy your soil, and then beg for aid while your youth die in the desert or drown in the Mediterranean.
Look at Burkina Faso. Look at Mali. They kicked out the French. They said enough! And guess what? The sky didn’t fall. Sovereignty is not a slogan — it is an action.
If you cannot defend your people, resign. You have no business in the statehouse if you cannot say “No” to Washington.
Africa must break this cycle of servitude. We must reject the loans, the lies, and the lectures. We must build sovereign institutions, fund our militaries, educate people in our languages, and develop independent foreign policies. We must stop being subservient and stop outsourcing our dignity.
Despite the vast resources they pour into their media - BBC, CNN, DW, France International, etc.- the West has lost its moral high ground, credibility, and the global South.
Many an empire collapsed chasing ghosts and mirages. The Romans fell. The British faded. And yes, Pax Americana will perish too — not with glory, but with a whimper of hubris.
Americans should stop pretending. The world has seen through your mask and your double standards. Few people today consider you the knight in shining armor. Palestine has revealed you as the bloodlusting villain in tattered robes. To the warmongers of Pax Americana: You are still in search of enemies — because you cannot face the truth.
The enemy is you.

Pax Americana doesn't need to search for enemies. It needs only to look in a mirror. 😟
