The disastrous foreign policy of Nigeria's clueless and visionless kleptomaniac misruler, President Tinubu, attests to the truism of the observation above.
Former Nigeria's Foreign Minister Joseph Nanven Garba
Not only has he betrayed the interests of his people to serve the neocolonial interests of his curators in the West, but his disastrous policies in the foreign arena have resulted in unmitigated damage to the once-enviable Nigeria's global status!
It was under Tinubu's chairmanship that the Regional Organization, The ECOWAS, shrunk when the three Sahelian States (Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger) excised themselves. The three states have formed their federation, produced their own passports and currency (breaking away from the economic strangualtion imposed through France’s domination of their finances.)
To the shock and disillusionment of Nigerians and Africans , Tinubu, on behalf of France especially, led the fight against the three countries whose sole crime was to attempt to wean themselves off the oppressive yoke of 500+ years of unremitting French colonialism!
Today, the three countries have charted their independent paths, far from the moribund organization that Tinubu has weaponized against his fellow Africans.
Nigerians who are old enough will only be dismayed by their leaders' lack of a coherent foreign policy. Under Tinubu, Nigeria's voice in international forums is muted to non-existent.
To the chagrin of citizens and the eternal shame of his administration, Nigeria refuses to speak up on the ongoing genocides in Gaza and Lebanon!
Nigerians can only look with shame and dismay as the Republic of South Africa robustly steps forward to assume Africa's moral and continental leadership!
In what used to be Nigeria's uncontested platform, Egypt and Ethiopia have joined South Africa as the leading voices of Africa in international fora.
This is best evidenced by the three countries' membership in and participation in the latest Geopolitical phenomenon, the BRICS.
South Africa was a founding member. Both Egypt and Ethiopia have become members. Nigeria is missing in action.

Without a doubt, BRICS is the latest geopolitical game in town. Its economic clout has surpassed that of the G7.
By its size and historical antecedents, Nigeria should have been a founding member; unfortunately, the thieving kleptocratic regime in Abuja rates allegiance to Colonial Masters far above those of national interests.
And that is a tragedy for any country!
